Raphael Bellum PLLC, an Intellectual Property law firm located in northern Virginia, is looking for patent attorneys, patent agents, and technical specialists to join our Chemical/Life Sciences team. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a biosciences field or a B.S. or advanced degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. As a member of the firm’s IP practice, the attorney/agent/technical specialist will work directly with our attorneys, clients, examiners, and foreign counsel and will be involved in all aspects of patent practice, including:
- Working with inventors and counseling clients,
- Evaluating inventions,
- Drafting patent applications and developing patent portfolios,
- Preparing responses to the USPTO and to international patent offices,
- Analyzing patent materials,
- Transactions and due diligence, and
- Preparing freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions.
Some experience with U.S. patent prosecution is preferred, but not required, with a preference for candidates who are registered to practice before the USPTO. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team is a must. A strong customer service orientation and excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with firm personnel, clients, and foreign counsel are essential. We offer an option to work predominantly remotely. Our billable hour requirement is a manageable 1320 hrs/year.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter, current resume, undergraduate, graduate (if applicable), and law school (if applicable) transcripts, and a writing sample to firstname.lastname@example.org.
